## The ASEAN Digital Economy Agreement Leadership (DEAL) project seeks to provide balanced resources to parties interested in Digital Economy Agreements (DEAs) in general and the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA) in particular.

The project aims to create an impartial forum for information exchanges and debates, and contribute to the growth of inclusive and sustainable digital economies in ASEAN and beyond.

## Our mission

The Centre for Regions, Trade and Geopolitics (CRTG) of the World Economic Forum is working with ASEAN Korea Cooperation Fund, the ASEAN Secretariat and ASEAN Member States to facilitate ASEAN's transformation towards an inclusive and sustainable digital economy.


## ASEAN is among the fastest growing internet markets in the world.

However, various roadblocks stand in the way of realizing this potential including the region's varying levels of development, regulatory capacity, infrastructure and digital skills.


## Key activities


### Digital Economy Agreements (DEA) Depository

The interactive online depository contains digital economy agreements and free trade agreements of relevance to the digital economy, allowing the comparison and analysis of the relevant provisions. It aims to reduce the complexity of existing DEAs to enable informed policy decisions and negotiations.

### Annual business survey and dialogue

The survey is drawing insights from business leaders’ perceptions on the various aspects of the digital economy in ASEAN.  In addition, annual dialogues with chief stakeholder groups including government, business, academia and civil society will be convened to discuss the key findings.

### Capacity building

Workshops and roundtables targeting ASEAN DEFA negotiators are being convened to increase the participants’ understanding of existing DEAs  and discuss challenges in DEFA negotiations.
